Just had an interesting thought. I was wondering why it seems that there is this direct clear out pouring of support to Trayvon Martin. i compare this to the killing of oscar grant . when oscar was murdered the public had at least five different views of the killing via video tape – it was apparent to any one with eyesight that one cop slaughtered a helpless young man on the ground – however there are still people who insist that some how – he must have been a threat to the police.

Young trayvon was a straight a student – who was visiting family in a gated community when he was approached by a person who fancied himself a policeman – this person stalked, chased and then shot this 17 year old to death – there is no video of this crime, only some muffled recordings and the testimony of his girlfriend (which would be considered hearsay). however, there has been a strong clear support of this young man and his family from the media and celebrities, – and a resounding condemnation of the person who shot him.

what are the differences?
well, Oscar Grant was shot by police and this society is brainwashed to believe that police are right in all they do – and that those who run afoul of police are wrong and bad and thus deserve what they get.

oscar grant wasn’t a baby faced boy – not a straight a student , he was living an inner city young mans life – a life that is soundly held in contempt by suburban America. Trayvon was , due to the intentional focus and good luck of his family , being allowed a middle class life style. His father stated on television, that they lived in that community to give their child more opportunity, than he could be provided in the inner city.

i am disgusted to think that these differences have such a profound affect upon public opinion – but life experience tells me that i am probably right in these suspicions.

as i write this i am shaking with rage at a society that has so numbed its citizens. do we bow to authority at the expense of our children?

every life is precious. every life unjustly taken – deserves justice. every wounded family deserves support in their grief. and better yet we all deserve a world mothers of all races need not fear the death of their sons, via rogue vigilantes or police personnel fueled by ignorance and racism.

I offer prayers of peace, comfort and justice for all families, any families who young one was taken away due to violence. I have to stop writing – I cant see through my tears.
