Thoughts on Troy Davis 9/21/11 10:19 PM

I have wanted to say something  – but what do i say? That I knew it would end this way? That I knew that Troy Davis was doomed as is anyone who is unlucky enough to be drawn in to our blood thirsty system. a system perpetrated by those so ignorant that they don’t know nor do they care to know the true meanings of the scriptures they quote when they justify their actions. let me make this clear – i know of no religion which allows or makes allowances for killing for any reason. and Christians are commanded to love. COMMANDED! NOT A SUGGESTION – COMMANDED.

Not to just love those we agree with  – but those who wrong us – those who hurt us. Love your enemies…. This commandment is not meant to torture us – but to make bring us closer to the mind of God. God the ever present, the ever loving, the ever healing.

This challenges us to find out and heal the conditions that cause others to do things we consider crimes. If we just blame the offender – society is off the hook!   We will just kill those bad people – and not have to see the hand of our government, our corporations, and our own dysfunction.. No we will just kill those bad people and shirk all responsibility.

So what if an innocent person dies…that person is a sacrifice to the blood lust of this nation. We can’t admit that the one could be innocent  – because we would have to consider the validity of the system itself…and then we would be forced to see the blood on our hands which was there long before there was a killing…

Rest in peace, Troy Davis. You are with God now and with you is the truth of your innocence. May this truth comfort you and your family. Rest in peace also to Police Officer Mark MacPhail, you were a good man who stepped in to assist someone who was in need of your aid.  You did not deserve what happened to you and the tragedy here is also that the person who killed you has walked, unpunished.
