OK. so mothers of color, black mothers, what do we do – keep our children home under lock and key?…
because it seems clear that they live in a country, where leaving their room puts them in mortal danger.
Don’t walk to the store to get a snack.
Don;t wear a hoodie.
Don’t carry an air rifle.
Don’t hang out on the corner, because you may get hit with a bullet meant for someone else…
Don’t walk with a group of friends, the police may think you are part of a gang.
If your car stops on a lonely street at night, don’t knock on strange doors for help.
Don’t play your youthful music loudly in your car, you may upset some miscellaneous white person, or they may feel threatened – and kill you.
The list grows longer,
as my anger grows stronger.
